The main goal for rebuilding the Houston Public Library web environment was to make it more efficient for their staff to maintain and to provide the ability for each division to manage their areas of the website. Working with the team at Limb Design to bring their creative process to life and using the Kalibrate Framework we molded a solution to do just that. Multiple Editors & Publishers With close to 20 editors, Website Management Solution Kalibrate’s Admin Access module provided tools to allow HPL administrators to control user access levels throughout the site. HPL Administrators can quickly add users, assign roles, create access groups and set permissions for their publishers and editors. This type of functionality gives HPL the power to manage their environment more efficiently. Location Management Website Management Solution Kalibrate’s extendible framework allowed Digital Function to configure additional properties specifically related to their library locations. We configured properties for address, library hours, phone number, room capacity, WiFi access, whether the branch is handicap accessible, and much more. This workflow allows the HPL staff to effectively manage location information, quickly adding new ones, and keeping information consistent across their 40+ locations. Google Maps API Because of Website Management Solution Kalibrate’s flexibility it was easy to integrate the Google Maps API and provide a branded aerial map of all their branches in Houston and surrounding areas. Additionally, we utilized the API on the location details page to provide an interactive map specifically for branch locations. The map is created dynamically so if the HPL staff adds a new location, the map is automatically updated making it very resourceful for them and their users. Photo Gallery The Houston Public Library website utilizes all of the different photo galleries that Kalibrate provides from Global galleries to rotating banner galleries. Stay Tuned as we are working with HPL to extend the current workflow and functionality.
